  1.                            SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
  2.  
  3. This portion of the program is used to install the software from the Pads
  4. Program diskette(s) onto the disk drive.
  5.  
  6. To select the PADS Program, use the up and down arrow keys on the key pad to
  7. highlight the desired program, then press F1 to continue. In the windows
  8. that follow there will be separate installation instructions for each of the
  9. PADS Programs.
  10.  
  11. The first window will describe the minimum hardware requirements for the
  12. PADS Program that you have selected. Before you install the PADS Program be
  13. sure that you have space available on the specified disk drive. You may
  14. install the software before you perform the HARDWARE SETUP. However, before
  15. you can operate the PADS Program, your hardware configuration must meet the
  16. minimum requirements for the selected program.

  18. The next window displays the directories that will be created on the speci-
  19. fied disk drive during the installation of the PADS Program. Before contin-
  20. uing with the installation, read this section carefully to ensure that you 
  21. understand the PADS directory structure.
  22.  
  23. It is not necessary to create the PADS Program directories before you begin
  24. installing the software.  The PINSTALL program will create them for you.  If
  25. you are updating existing software, the PINSTALL program will not overwrite
  26. or delete existing data files.
  27.  
  28. All the PADS Programs may reside in the same PADS directory.
  29.  
  30. After the programs have been installed, you will be prompted to load the
  31. training files.  These files are used in conjunction with the self training
  32. tutorials.  Therefore, If you are using the PADS Program for the first time,
  33. you may wish to load these files.  It is not necessary to install these
  34. files in order to operate the PADS Programs.

  36. Following the installation of the training files you will be prompted to
  37. install the PADS system library.  If you are performing a first time
  38. installation, it is necessary to install the library to operate the PADS
  39. Programs.

  41.   CAUTION: WHEN YOU INSTALL THE LIBRARY, IT WILL OVERWRITE ALL OF THOSE
  42.   ITEMS CONTAINED IN THE STANDARD LIBRARY. HOWEVER, IT WILL NOT OVERWRITE
  43.   THOSE ITEMS THAT ARE IN THE USER LIBRARY.

  45. After you have installed the PADS Program onto the disk drive, you must
  46. perform a HARDWARE SETUP for the PADS Programs that have been installed.
